Pressure Is a Tactic, Not a Requirement

At the scene of a breakdown or accident in Western Australia, the first thing a predatory tow operator will do is create a sense of overwhelming urgency. They will tell you the car must be moved immediately. They will talk about safety, traffic, and police requirements. This is not for your benefit. It is a tactic.

Pressure is the tool they use to stop you from thinking clearly. They know that if you have time to make a phone call or ask questions, you will likely choose a different provider. Their goal is to rush you into a verbal agreement or a signature before you have had a chance to consider the price, the destination, or your options.

Legitimate Urgency vs. Manufactured Urgency

There is a difference between a real hazard and a manufactured one.

  • Legitimate Urgency: Your car is in a live lane on the freeway and poses an immediate danger. In this case, police or Main Roads will manage the clearance.
  • Manufactured Urgency: Your car is safely on the shoulder of the road, in a suburban street, or in a car park. There is no immediate danger.

In the second scenario, any pressure to “move it now” is artificial. It is designed to panic you. You have time to make a smart decision.

Pressure Is a Confession

You must see pressure for what it is: a confession that their offer cannot withstand scrutiny. A legitimate operator with fair pricing has no need to rush you. They are confident in their service and are happy for you to compare or take a moment to think. An operator who pressures you is admitting, through their actions, that they need to trap you before you realise you have better options.

Your Defence is to Slow Down

The moment you feel rushed, you must intentionally slow down. You are in control of the consent, and you do not have to give it on their timeline.

Say this:

“I am not going to be rushed. I will make a decision when I have the information I need.”

Then, turn away and make your own call. The power of this simple action cannot be overstated. It breaks their script and re-establishes your authority.

InstaTow Operates on Your Timeline, Not Ours

The InstaTow platform was designed to eliminate roadside pressure. You book the service from the safety of your car or the footpath. You see the price, you choose the destination, and you confirm when you are ready. The process is calm, clear, and controlled.

Never mistake pressure for professionalism. It is the opposite. A true professional gives you clarity and space. A scammer gives you urgency.
